Course

Our 18-hole parkland golf course at Wishaw has a yardage from 5512 yards off the red tees (Par 73), to 6012 yards off the white tees (Par 70).  The course provides a fun challenge for golfers of all abilities, with plenty of water hazards throughout to keep you occupied.

The course was originally constructed in 1994, and has been significantly developed ever since, with the majority of greens reconstructed, new holes built on extended areas of land, added water features and new teeing areas.

Our professional golf green keeping team are dedicated to maintaining an excellent golf course, and as a club we strive to provide our members, guests and visitors an enjoyable experience.

Course Management

From the first hole to the last, good course management is key. Correctly selected shot and club choice and a controlled swing, bring consistency. If you can't reliably carry 160 yds over the lake on the first tee and stop the ball is it the right choice to try, use your handicap and shots to lay up with the second and take a high accuracy wedge into the flag, a single put still gets you the par.

The most effective way to lower golf scores is to prioritize course management and the short game over full-swing mechanics.  Players should aim for the middle of the green on approach shots to minimize risk, use conservative clubs off the tee to avoid hazards, and dedicate significant practice time to chipping, pitching, and lag putting to eliminate three-putts and penalties.

Taking a wild swing on the tee, and slicing or hooking the ball out of bounds is a sure fire way to add to your score card with unnecessary penalty strokes, while still leaving you needing to play the original or an adjusted shot choice.

So instead try replacing a wild tee shot with a controlled swing down the fairway and a layup shot to give you a view of the green in two, avoid being three off the tee and still needing to make a shot to stay in the game.
